Will Bafana Bafana do it for Madiba?

Will Bafana Bafana do it for Madiba? Tata's glorious moments of soccer (image by:kickoff.com) 2013 marks the 95th anniversary of the birth of the "Father of our Nation" - Nelson Mandela. The nation is honouring Tata's 95th anniversary by hosting the Nelson Mandela sports and culture day at the FNB stadium on the 17th of August. The idea behind the whole event is to give tribute to Nelson Mandela and to unite the nation as one.The question is,will Bafana Bafana honour Madiba and win the game or they will continue to disappoint the nation that is always supportive of them as the event will be the first of its kind in the history of South Africa? Bafana Bafana needs to know that this day does not come everyday and they need to do whatever it takes to win the game because this isn't about boosting their egos or arrogance but its about doing it for our hero. The global icon will certainly be grateful if Bafana Bafana can win the game as this day is all about him

  1. true indeed the hero neends the champs to honour him by winning this historical games. I mean he deserve more than winning, you know what i don't even know what to say.

  2. They must do it for him...it cant always be about them.Even though they have dragged his name and the name of the nation into the mud in several occassions, they need to do something about tomorrow's game. Its already embarassing for us to even say we have a national soccer team but what can we do?Bafana Bafana team will forever remain, whether they win or not.

  3. Great angle Ms Mokgohloa! The global icon (Nelson Mandela) will certainly be grateful if Bafana Bafana can win the game. The game is all about him - i mean he deserve to be honoured, and well it's nice because i have heared that there will be free transport (ranging from buses and trains) taking people from their provinces to the stadium, which is really good [the sports minister deserves a high-five for that]. People will be there in numbers, that's guaranteed. The effort now lies with RSA Soccer team (which is Bafana Bafana), well even though they have been disappointing us previously - but on this one i believe they will try their level best for Tata Madiba's sake and they will make us all proud.

  7. Well I believe Bafana Bafana has the potential of winning and making Madiba proud. The boys are hard workers, all we have to do as South Africans is to support them all the way and we definitely should be positive.

    1. true that..they too are human beings and they do make mistakes here and there but that does not mean that they do not have potential.they are capable of winning this game.

Well in my personal opinion, whether dy win/not doesnt really matter on dis day...wat matters is dat dy are payin tribute 2Tata Mandela,so i say da games that are being playd 2day with the foreign oppositions will embrace da name of our nation nd continue 2 show the world that we are an equal national(race/gender etc)...bafana bafaba winning ds game will jus be a cherry on top.... Goodluck 2our national teams not forgeting the springboks....-nice article Tsholo

  21. Ah! well it was an obvious case if we try to analyse the Bafana Bafana game against Burkina Faso, well this made the event a little less interesting, Burkina Faso brought their team B, making things ride smooth for Bafana Bafana, at least if we went face to face with Argentina or any European country. The legends played well but fitness killed them and the Bokkies never disappoint!! Was a great event, though the concert what cut short, not surprised though SABC SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
